Meade Cottage

Originally an ice house for a neighboring cottage, Meade Cottage was rebuilt by a Mrs. Overton Dennis and given to Shrine Mont. The cottage is named for Miss Margaret Meade who taught in the Orkney Springs School in the nineteenth century and for the Rt. Rev. William Meade, D.D., the third bishop of Virginia.

Meade was completely renovated in 2016/17 and now has six bedrooms and five and one-half bathrooms on two levels. There is also a small kitchen for winter use. The renovation retained the large living room and fireplace as well as the screened in porch. Downstairs there is a two bedroom suite sharing a bathroom and a large room with a patio for gathering. Meade is air conditioned and is available for winter rental.
