Winter Digital Photography 2021
February 26 - February 28
Spend a weekend at picturesque Shrine Mont, located in Orkney Springs, VA, surrounded by beautiful mountains, a clear night sky, and lots of natural beauty to capture!
Finally take some time away from the everyday isolation and creative ennui, to enjoy creating art with like-minded photo enthusiasts, in a safe and socially distanced environment.
There are two ways to spend your weekend:
1. Editing and creating a photo book!
You can finally edit / select a photo project/ vacation / event you have always wanted to organize, with the goal of creating a photo book in Lightroom. Regi, a former Senior Photo Editor in Berlin, will help you make that sometimes difficult decision of what to keep and what to discard. Please bring your unedited photos on an external drive or on your laptop.
2. Capture the Winter Dream on your camera
Edit and select your best images in the warmth of our cozy classroom after roaming around Shrine Mont.
The weekend starts on Friday evening when we gather at St. Andrew’s Cottage in the late afternoon for introductions and personal project announcements. Later we will relax with the log fire burning and dinner served, all with appropriate social distancing.
What to bring
Masks – required.
Warm, comfortable clothes
any beverages/snacks to share
When making a book:
bring your laptop with your photo project gathered in a folder (it can be hundreds of images), unedited! I will help you pick the best.
You will need to download Adobe Lightroom from www.adobe.com Subscription is $10/month. You can cancel anytime. Lightroom is coupled with Blurb bookmaking software. Super easy to work. I will have a lecture about bookmaking on Friday evening.
Alternatively, if you do not want to make a book
Bring your photos on your computer, (gathered in one folder) and organize them in whatever software you have on your laptop. Bring your camera, charging cables, (also for laptop), memory cards.
