John Philip Newell will offer The School of Earth and Soul (formerly known as the School of Celtic Consciousness) at Shrine Mont in October 2021.
In 2016 John Philip Newell began a teaching initiative that is now called The School of Earth & Soul (formerly The School of Celtic Consciousness). Its purpose is to reawaken awareness of the sacred in all things through the recovery of Celtic wisdom for today and to help translate this awareness into compassionate action and justice. Click Shrine Mont will offer Year 1 – October 5-7, 2021 (Click HERE to register for year 1) and Year 2 on October 12-14, 2021 (register below).
Year 1: Celtic Wisdom for Today through the teachings of Pelagius, St Brigid, and Pierre Teilhard de Chardin.
Year 2: Celtic Wisdom for Today through the teachings of Eriugena, the Carmina Gadelica, and John Muir.
Year 3: Celtic Wisdom for Today through the teachings of Alexander John Scott, George MacLeod, and Kenneth White.
The essential text for the three-year program is John Philip Newell’s Sacred Earth Sacred Soul. And the shared prayer book of the School is Sounds of the Eternal: A Celtic Psalter.
About Shrine Mont
Shrine Mont is a full service conference and retreat center affiliated with the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia. We are located on 1,200 acres of forest in the historic resort town of Orkney Springs, VA fifteen miles west of I81 and two hours west of Washington, DC. Air Travel: Shrine Mont is 1 hour 45 minutes from Dulles International Airport and 1 hour from Shenandoah Regional Airport.
Rates (include 2 night’s lodging, 6 meals, instruction and related materials)
Single Occupancy: $430 per person
Double Occupancy: $378 per person
Commuter: $310 per person
Please note that if Shrine Mont cancels this event due to circumstances beyond our control such as a mandate from the the state or our speaker’s inability to be here, Shrine Mont will refund the entire registration fee. Otherwise Shrine Mont will follow our cancellation policy.
