Shenandoah County Heritage Day

April 12 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

Shenandoah County will be on full display in the Ballroom of the Virginia House at Shrine Mont on Saturday during Shenandoah County Heritage Day 2025, co-hosted annually by the Shenandoah County Historical Society (SCHS) and the Shenandoah County Library Archives.

Library archivist Zach Hottel said that Heritage Day is a great opportunity for researchers, history organizations and genealogists as well as residents to gather and learn about the county’s rich and diverse history.  “We have all types of exhibitors,” Hottel said. “We have those who are bringing what research they have with them. We have individuals who have interest in a topic and are seeking others to discuss it and then we even have people who are just starting out, looking to learn a little bit more about the community.”

Cap off the evening with a night of square dancing from 7:00-9:00 pm! Many square dances have been held at Shrine Mont through the years and what better way to participate in a Shenandoah County tradition. Tom Hughes will be calling the squares. It’s free and open to the public; most appropriate for ages 8 years old and up; no experience needed; no partner needed. Wear casual clothes and comfortable shoes.

Come out and enjoy the fun! All are welcome!
