Fall Digital Photography Weekend

Beginner and Advanced Classes.

Find out what  Mega Pixels are all about and spend a pleasant weekend in Orkney Springs.

In the class you will learn  Fall at Shrine Mont

  • to use your digital camera more effectively
  • the fundamentals of image capture and camera operation, proper exposure
  • to use your flash. 

Daily assignments will allow you to explore the Shrine Mont's 1,100 acres photographically and then share images in class to help you troubleshoot and develop a creative eye.

Image of Regula FranzThe advanced class will be taught by Regula Franz.  Regula is a documentary photographer and instructor who holds a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Arts. Originally from Basel, Switzerland, she worked in Germany as a photojournalist and senior photo editor in Berlin. She served as Adjunct Faculty in the Department of Photography at VCU Arts. On a spiritual quest for many years, she has observed and photographed daily rituals and unfamiliar customs all over the globe, most profoundly on a one-year journey through Southeast Asia and Nepal, which resulted in two solo exhibitions, Signs of Immortality in 2003, and Sacred Encounters in 2006. For the past 10 years, she has been teaching classes in Digital and Travel Photography, as well as Fine Art Digital Printing at the VMFA Studio School and the Visual Arts Center of Richmond.  Visit her website at www.regulafranz.net.

Teri Moy

There will be a beginner Class taught by Teri Moy.  Teri has been photographing food, bellies, babies and children for over a decade! “Photography is my life. It’s what I live and breathe. Every moment is history in the making. I consider it a privilege every time a family, or individual allows me to enter in their personal world and record who they are. Besides my faith, children and family – to me there is no greater joy.” She now resides in Leesburg, Va after spending a decade overseas.

 

Shrine Mont is nestled at the foot of the Great North Mountain in Orkney Springs, VA thirteen miles west of Interstate 81 and is two hours from Washington, DC and a little less than three hours from downtown Richmond.
